Magnum presents Precedents.
2022 sees Magnum Photos celebrate its 75th anniversary with a series of three square print sales, taking place over the course of the year. For the first time, the sales will allow collectors to build a triptych of images, curated by photographers or estates.
The first sale is titled Precedents. For Precedents, participating photographers and estates have selected images from their archives that signal the start of something new. The beginning can be literal – an origin – or the moment that everything changed. The chosen images might bring the early career of the photographer to light, or it could be a photo that commenced a project, prompted an obsession, or started a journey.
This collection of 80+ represents the breadth and variety not only of the practices and outlooks within Magnum but also of what photography can convey and capture.
This photograph from the selection is available as a signed, museum-quality Magnum Square Print, exceptionally priced at just $100* / £100 including tax / €110 including tax. All prints are signed or estate-stamped with an accompanying text on an archival label to ensure quality and preservation, which is affixed to the back of the print. *For US customers, any applicable tax will be calculated at checkout.
The edition is available for purchase between:
